I forget, which one(the weaker one sort of?), but Archos has a proprietary plug. Something that annoys me about a few of my devices, because if I lose track of the cable, I can't use the device. My WD Passport external drive for instance. It's not a proprietary plug, just a "micro" USB plug. I've got mini USB cables coming out of my ears, because most of my other devices use them to charge and sync. I've only got ONE micro cable, it's only half a foot long and I have lost it a couple times in the house, which made me unable to access the files on that drive.
If it's what you're into though, I say go for it. From all points that I've heard, the plug is the only downside to the player. According to the site though, I'd wait until the summer when they intro the newer 1GHz ARM processor.
Also Dell just announced the Streak, which is going to be an iPad competitor that runs Android, is open to Amazon for music, movie and book downloads AND(it's a big and) can have other book stores, such as the Barnes and Noble bookstore added for free. This has me interested, because if I can get Public Domain books on there for free as well, I'll probably end up getting this over the Kindle and iPad. I've been waiting YEARS for a more open and universal eBook device.
